I’ve attended many sporting events in my life and most of them when I was doing production, but I’ve never been to a football game. Comcast provided me the chance to film a much anticipated Monday night game at soldier field with the Bears playing Green Bay Packers. Yea Packers of all teams on a Monday night with two undefeated teams. Well technically I wasn’t shooting the game. I was shooting fans near the entrance, but it was a blast being in the environment.
What really stood out to me at the game were the fans. There were a group of fans in the parking lot looking over the incoming line of fans. Every time they saw a fan in Packer uniform, they would boo as loud as they could. From a technical standpoint, it was a pain. I was shooting fan interviews and the background noise was usually too loud and we had to stop and restart. At some point we decided not to worry about it and do the best we can with the audio. There were just too many Packer fans coming in to make it work without the booing in the background.
It was a fun experience seeing those fans. Next time I’m at the bears game, I’ll be standing right next to them booing the fans from the other team.
